About ...

A directory of personally verified Quality Directories, categorized by submission conditions. The site includes links to a selection of webmaster resources, and articles on site optimization.

To make this site really useful - and to keep it that way - this is an 'Open Internet' exercise: please submit any working site of interest and relevance to this directory. Sites will be listed, and categorised to make your search easier.

Listing is Free of Charge
And Always Will Be

Using the Directory

Readers can browse or use the search facility - it actually works!

Site owners - we suggest starting at the top - "Free Submission" - and working down in the order given. This will probably give you the best return on your dollar. Always check out the directories for yourself, always read their guidelines before submitting. If your site doesn't fit - don't worry: there's plenty more directories out there! (So tell us about them!).

Every Directory listed here will have their own Guidelines; do read them carefully, and follow them - sites that do so will be listed more quickly - Sites that don't may not get listed at all!

Criteria for Listing

Currently, we include:

A. Directories
B. Webmaster Forums
C. Blogs & Journals

Sites fitting those categories will be listed, provided only that they meet a common sense quality minimum, and we take a broad view [see FAQ].

We reserve the right to make the final decision on which category a site will be allocated to, plus the right to edit the information displayed in the interests of our visitors.

No fees are levied for listing a site, and no reciprocal link is required, or even expected (though we'd be grateful). However, we will apply to relevent categories of relevant directories, and sites that render application difficult, or which unreasonably decline us will be assessed with that in mind - how useful is a directory that is totally user-unfriendly?

While we want to include as many relevant sites as possible, we reserve the right to decline a submission, plus the right to remove a listed site - for any reason, and reasons will not be stated.

  • Clones will not be listed; there must be some unique content. So Sites using the the Open Directory's Dump are ineligible (eg Google Directory).
  • Sites which decline submissions or simply do not work will not be dropped if there is no date or sign that life remains.
  • Crap Sites will not be listed [see FAQ]

Reasons for declining sites or removing them may include threats, legal reasons, persistent spam, abuse or simply inconsistent site function. But we really have no wish to decline or remove any site!

Maintenance

I'm intending to update the site monthly, approximately. I can check all the links in one half hour with Xenu's Link Sleuth, but I hope most of the work will be done by you the visitor, and by site owners. All submitted sites will be visited by a human being, and all working sites that fit the Directory's broad criteria will be added.

Site Principles

This site endorses good practice. The Internet needs all the ethics it can get - plus experience shows that in the long run on the Internet, honesty and hard work do get rewarded.

"Open Internet" does not mean anarchy; and, of course, I shall be making editorial decisions. But the criteria will be 'commonsense' - and where there is doubt, I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the sites.

Advertising Policy

Advertisements and affiliate schemes contribute toward the costs of this site. Buttons or Banners may be displayed at the head of the page, or in a page margin.

We currently use Google's Adsense, and have not blocked or refused any advertiser. This should not be taken to suggest we endorse or support any individual advertiser; we have no control or advance information on whose ads will appear. And that's the way we like it!

Languages Other Than English

I regret I cannot include non-English sites, as I do not have the resources to evaluate them.

Sandbox Sites

seo2seo has a policy of listing as many sites as possible; the down side of that, is we risk The Wrath of Google if we list a site from a 'bad neighborhood'. To protect us (and all our active links), new sites, and sites with GPR=0, may be added to sandbox categories (rel="nonfollow") until they are established.

Help us to help you, by letting us know as soon as we can move the site to the main category.

A Bit of History

I've been learning about SEO Good Practice for a while now. I learned very early on that while there's plenty of information 'out there' - on the Internet - it is tough, especially when you are new to it, to assess what's useful, what's not, and what's downright dangerous.

This site is an attempt to give something back, by helping to provide a bit of order to some key information. If it works, I hope to gradually expand over time. There will be no fees payable, now or ever. I expect advertising income to cover hosting and domain name fees; if there's a bit left to cover my time, I'll be grateful - and pleasantly surprised!
