FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Why Was My Site Rejected?

Believe me, I'd love to accept every directory - the sooner this directory lists a few hundred directories, the sooner people will realise the importance of submission conditions when they submit their sites to directories. But some sites are simply inappropriate - see the Submission Guidelines

Also, sadly, some sites are crap. It's now easy to launch a directory, and some schmucks are flooding the market with crap directories that are feeble attempts to earn adsense dollars.

We don't want to rule out any directory - everyone has to start somewhere - but we believe a minimum standard is essential, for the protection of good directories, and avoid wasting site managers' time.

Here's a quick guide:

Crap Sites

Why Do You List Sites That Are "Crap", Then?

Apologies, if you've found a crap site listed here. I have no favorites, I don't take bribes (no-one offers any!), so there are two reasons for you finding a crap site:

  1. The site has gone bad since I accepted it; I do check sites occasionally, but maybe not often enough.
  2. I've tightened my definition after accepting the site (I'm always learning new scams, and weeding them out)

If you find a Crap Site, please email me, and I'll deal with it. Thanks!

What's Wrong With Adsense?

Absolutely nothing; unlike some, I strongly support the right of Directories to carry ads - they have to meet their legitimate expenses, and they are entitled to a reasonable profit, too.

But sites that place text ads centre-page, pushing the directory content out of site, clearly have no interest in doing what directories do; they'd prefer you to click on adsense.

I guess that's their right, too. MFA sites (Made For Advertizing) have as much right to exist as any other. But I see no reason to help such parasites, and I would not want a site of mine to legitimize them, either.

Any directory worth submitting to will design the page to feature the directory content, not conceal it. They are ones we encourage and promote.
